Welcome back from the weekend lovers! I had such an absolutely fabulous one. Like I mentioned on the last post, my little nephew's bday party was on Saturday so of course I went home to participate and help out. I also spent waaayyyy too much money as well. Oh dear, my restraint when it comes to kids is so absent at times. SMH Anyhew, he enjoyed himself and so did the adults. Question, why do the adults come to a kid's party hungry as heck??? It never ceases to amaze me, lol. I also hit up the thrift shop with my mother and I scored a couple of items. I can't wait to share. Speaking of thrifted items, I scooped up this lovely number below that I'm wearing while I was in Chicago last August. The dress was a mere $2.00!!! I had my mom alter it, but I think I measured it a wee bit too short....oops!

I'm so glad I'm short because this dress looks like a tunic on the hanger, LMBO!

From the back it looks okay....but trust me when I say I can't be bending at the waist in this little number.

Of course I love the floral print....clearly, or you know me, I would have opted for a plain garment. This should show you guys that I'm serious about bringing more patterns into my wardrobe.....real talk ;-)

Neutral heels look great with the dress because of the busy pattern, however, I was thinking about scooping up a pink pump to bring out the color in the dress. What do you think?

Happy Friday!!! Yeeeyyyy.....*insert happy dance here*. It has been a hectic week to say the least. However, it has also been a super productive week as well. Two projects I'm working on are out of my court. I'll have to revisit them later but at least I get an extended break for now. GO ME!!!! This Saturday I will be headed back home for my little nephew's birthday party but today is his birthday. So I must honor that little man....... Happy birthday Marvin! He's 10 years old and I LOVE that little guy. Of course auntie is gonna spoil her baby....per usual. Lol!

This is the bestie Ja'Kim......isn't she gorgeous??? My friends are so pretty and such fab women. She's a CPA for a major accounting firm and she flies around the country handling accounts for large retailers and businesses. When I tell you she's fab....she's FAB!

I can't believe it was actually chilly enough for the above combination - chunky scarf, sweater, AND boots. Amazing!

BTW....this scarf is one of my favorites. It's so cozy and I can literally wrap it like 5 times!

You know I had to throw in my fierce "Tyra Banks" pose! LOL!

I have known this chick since pre-school! PRE-SCHOOL!!! She's always been the same, sweet and genuine person.....although she does get MIA around tax seasons, lol. But I refuse to throw her behind to the curb ;-)

I took that heffa out to eat and then...because we're such nerds.....we went to the bookstore for some more shopping! Too funny! We were like little kids. She showed restraint but I walked outta there with two books :-)

Recap - RBBB Circus with the Fam

I am going to attempt to share some photos with you all from my trip to the circus with my peeps. I apologize for the horrible quality. The flash was off on my camera, but I thought my Photoshop program could work miracles.....ummm, yea, everything has limitations. Please just work with me on this post. I will not do this again...and I refuse to just not post these images, LOL!

Because my pics are super grainy and dark. I'll just let you know that I was wearing a green cardi and my top was designed with a light pink and purple image. Blue jeans and copper boots completed my color scheme.

Copper colored boots just really make such a great contrast with blue/black denim. I received several compliments.

The top has a light watercolor-inspired design. It's too big for my frame, but I love the way it drapes anyways!

I really like the cage with the motorcycles in it. It's so dangerous and my eyes are always glued to the scene.

You know these dancers were working their behinds off! I wanted to go down and join them they looked so good, lol.

This scene was sort of scary because the lady fell off the horse and clearly injured her shoulder. But, as the old theater mantra states, "the show must go on". She climbed right back up and finished her routine.

The martial arts scene was fierce!

Whew its Hump Day and I couldn't be happier! We have a lot of projects going on at work and I'm so ready for them to be over. Anyhew, quick outfit post today folks. Nothing really exciting to share. I am just showcasing my new jacket (purchased during the holiday season last month).

This style is not normally something I gravitate towards, but I did love the mixed materials design. The body of the jacket feels like a fleece/cotton combo and the arms are faux leather. Pretty fab!

This jacket made me feel so cool, laid back, and tough, LOL.

It reminds me of a varsity jacket!

I know I needed to wear a necklace. I was headed out to run some errands soI just threw on the coat when I realized it was colder than I originally expected. I'm sure you can tell these pics are from a couple of weeks ago because its about 80 degrees here now!!!

Foremost, let me assure you that I did NOT spend any money on fashion this month! I am still on my spending hiatus. However, I forgot to let you all that I received my newest wardrobe addition a couple weeks ago........ these fabulous pumps you see below :-) These heels were on sale for only $22 bucks at Karmaloop.com. What's even more fab is that I was able to use a coupon code and free shipping code which brought the total down to about $15 bucks! SWEET!

Loving this color. It's such a chameleon hue....in certain lights it looks gold, then in others...silver. HOT!

It's like I morphed these platforms straight from the '70s.....I was a little hesitant to get them but I couldn't pass up on that fab price and unique style. LOVES them!!!

Also loving the sharp, platform heel...it's pretty fab!

That girl is SHARP!!!!

The only con about this heel.......they run 1/2 size too large :-( Oh well, that's what heel grips are for. I'd rather have a shoe be a little large than too small!

Do you guys like? Or should I only save these for '70s costume parties? LOL!

Greetings Fashion Pad Readers,

Welcome back from the weekend good people! I ended up spending the weekend with family in my hometown. Needless to say, I had a good time. We actually had a family yard sale and a reunion meeting on Saturday. I also had a chance to catch up on some work so I am proud to say I can go ahead and check that off my list of things to do this week *insert Michael Jordan fist pump here*.

I usually don't post pics of my work attire because, well....I place minimal effort in what I choose for the job. I know that's not how a fashionista should be, however, the times that I've spruced up my style, I got so many people asking me "Ohhh where are you going today?"....or...."Wow you're really dressed up, what's going on?". Ummm...really people? It was a little irritating; but I realize that I am one of those people who feel great AND work more efficiently when they "look good". So, lately I've stepped up my career style game (slightly) and I plan to continue focusing more on my business style wardrobe.

Blue is my absolute favorite color and oddly of enough, I love the combination of blue and gray....especially at work. I know, it's a little odd but I tend to purchase quite a few gray slacks as opposed to black, or any other color.

The pink handbag adds some contrast but still complements this combination well.

Can we all agree that Mary Jane heels are the most comfortable heel style for work???? I own about 4 pairs and I can wear them all every day without any problems!

I should of taken these pics before I went to work....I look tired, LOL.

Greetings Fashionistas,

Happy Friday!!! You know what, I love you guys so much!!! Thanks for the fabulous advice and expressions of concern regarding my stress filled life. Please know that I am taking this situation seriously. I am reorganizing my life and allowing for more rest without dropping the ball on my responsibilities. For those of you who may not know, I'm a clinical pharmacist and I work as a specialist at a cancer center. I also work in the retail field every now and then. On top of my demanding responsibilities at work, I am starting a business, managing a blog, hosting a family reunion, organizing our annual family vacation, chairing one of the events at my church's women's conference, and on the board of the church's health ministry (getting ready to develop a domestic violence program), and I'm working on a much delayed research project with one of our neuro-oncologists at work. Hmmm.....I'm gonna just stop right there before you guys realize that something is totally wrong with me, LOL!

But I do get it people. I may not always feel like I'm overwhelmed because generally I just don't think about the things I have to do. I just do them. But I can't ignore the physical signs right? So I'm gonna start taking care of Shanequa. The first thing on my "me" agenda is to schedule my spa appointment. My bff gifted me this for Christmas. LOVES her to pieces!!!! I'll let you guys know what I decided to do (i.e. massage, facial, body wrap, etc.). I''m so ready to relax. I even take adventurous vacations....so sad, SMH.

But enough of my wacky life. Let's move on to some fashion. While I adore creative and flamboyant styling just like the next fashion follower, I really love simple looks. However, I believe in taking a simple top and jeans to the next level by layering on a statement accessory. I use every accessory I can find that works for me to elevate my look. Of course jewelry pieces are my go to items, but shoes, handbags, and scarves run neck and neck. For the look below, I pulled out my heelless wedges. My mother said my shoes reminded her of a stallion......my brother said I looked like a centaur (half horse, half man). I couldn't help but LMBO!!! My family has jokes for days....trust!

I know my feet look a little dry....but I swear its the lighting or something, LOL!

Greetings Fashion Friends,

Happy Hump Day! So I just realized last evening that I'm stressed. Yep, I admit that I have too much on my plate (again) and I'm unable to save the leftovers for later. Almost everything is a priority and requires some form of action to be taken now. I don't freak out over an abundance of responsibility, but I realize my body does provide me with friendly reminders to encourage me to slow down. I was in bible study and the word was awesome (currently we're studying Romans) but I kept getting distracted by this nagging headache over my eye (classic stress region) and pressure around my sinus area. At first, I attributed the symptoms to eye ache and possible prescription changes for my glasses....but I know now that there's more to the story, so to speak. Anyhew, I've decided I will press forward and organize my priority list in a way that doesn't make me feel like I'm playing catch up, and continue on until I can check some items off....then I'll be able to truly take a breather and reduce my stress level. Pray with me people!

For my OOTD, I wore eggplant and leopard to attend a poetry performance by my classmate's brother. Ummm....I sort of didn't make it, LOL. I did drive the 5 minutes up the road it took to get to the event center, however, there were sooo many people and I spotted a wedding party that totally threw me off. Parking was nonexistent AND I was super sleepy so ya girl drove the 5 minutes it took me to get back to my house. I know, pretty sad, but I promised my classmate I will do better next time. I do realize my personal life is also nonexistent right now. Again, pray with me people! LOL!

Haaa! I look absolutely stoned right here....from sleep of course! I should have known I wasn't going to make it before I even left the house!!! LMBO!

I pulled out my new favorite clutch to complement my ensemble. It's becoming a lot more versatile than I originally envisioned it to be.

LOVE the back of this top!!! I have 3 of these and I just discovered the zipper actually zips all the way down. I need to know stuff like this because the most unreal things happen to me. I can just imagine myself getting hooked on something unknowingly and my zipper getting yanked down. Yep, I'm super imaginative.....because mess like this happens to me frequently! SMH

Loving these necklaces I lifted from my grandmother. She was like.."I still wear these young lady". And I was like "No you don't". She laughed and said you're right, you can have them. What grandma? Such false indignation, LOL!

I didn't even put on any earrings, mascara, or lip gloss.....you know darn well that's a no no for me!!! Unbelievable! So glad I took my butt home.....lame move or not!

Hot or Not - Solange Knowles' Green Lace Dress

I am too in love with Solange Knowles' style. The chick can do no wrong in my book. Case in point, this lovely green lace sheath looks fabulous on her in the picture below. I believe she is wearing Dolce & Gabbana. The lace and fitted silhouette are consistent with D&G's Spring 2012 RTW line. Not to mention, they sent quite a few bodysuits down the runway in multiple textures, shapes, colors, and embellishments. I am pretty sure Solange is wearing one beneath her lacy number.

Ms. Knowles rocked this sexy garment during one of the many activities she attended during Milan Fashion Week. It was recently announced that she signed a contract with Next Models and I am so happy that she's getting the shine she deserves. She's a singer, dancer, songwriter, producer, DJ, actress, mommy, and now model. I'm sure she has some other roles under her belt but the aforementioned are enough for several lifetimes! And this chick isn't even thirty. As much props as I'm giving her, I truly hope that she is a decent human being, otherwise, I'll be majorly pissed!

Anyhew, if my natural hair can look anything like her curly fro (also loving Tracee Ellis Ross' curls) I will NEVER get a relaxer again! But back to the original purpose of this post.......What do you all think of her ensemble.........Hot or Not?

Welcome back from the weekend peeps!!!! Today is a day where we celebrate the life and worldwide influence of an extraordinary individual......Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK had a dream and today, in 2012, that dream is a reality! Sure, there still is racial inequality, religious persecution, and economic disparities in the world. However, we are closing the gap on the aforementioned issues with each new generation born into this world. I think Dr. King would be proud by how far we've come, but I know with a certainty that he would still be encouraging us to go harder to seek resolutions for the continued pain, struggle, and suffering that some people face daily. I celebrate MLK today and everyday that I'm allowed to enjoy my freedom.

I'm going to share what I wore to one of the MLK parades I attended. On Saturday I traveled to my hometown. But today, I went to another parade in a nearby suburb of Orlando. It was cute and thank goodness the focus was kept on MLK. It was chilly this weekend so I had to break out my new boots and cozy scarf.

You would think I was overdressed for a parade right? Well, for some reason, MLK parades bring out ALL the super, overdressed individuals. I was casual Suzy man, LOL.

So here are my new boots. They have a wrap-around design, pointed toe, and stiletto heel. They're okay in terms of comfort, but I wouldn't push the wear past 2 hours.

Happy Friday folks! Oh what a beautiful thing it is to make it through the work week and lay back and kick it for the weekend. As a matter of fact, I'm looking forward to participating in some MLK weekend festivities.....and on top of that, it's one of my bff's birthday tomorrow so I gotta find out what the heck that chick wants to do.

In the mean time, I'm posting pics of what I wore to church on this past Sunday. I'm super behind in my photo uploading/editing. So pics will be posted about a week or two after they've been taken until I get caught up. Anyhew, I shopped my closet like I told you guys I would be doing for this month, and I came up with 1 newbie and 1 almost newbie (I only carried it once).

So this midi skirt I bought several months ago in NY has been chillin on the rack since September!!! Why you ask, oh let's see....because I have a problem. The first step to overcoming my issue is to admit that I have one right??? LOL! But seriously, I have got to do better. *insert look of shame here*

It was a nice early Fall day.....in the dead of winter. This weather is bananas!

I LOVE the ikat print on this skirt......but don't stare at it too long......I can not be responsible for your behind getting in a trance!!!

Side note: I am just noticing that this skirt has belt loops, but no belt. I've been swindled!!! I should have paid attention before I bought it.... lesson learned.....again.

This is the 2nd time I'm carrying this clutch. But that's certainly about to change. Poor baby is about to rack up some serious mileage. I'm talking major reward points guys. Actually, there was an older lady at church trying to take my clutch.....she know DANG well she didn't come in church with a metallic burgundy handbag. I smiled at her and gently grabbed my bag a way from her while giving her a serious side eye!!!!

I have one more set of photos to share with you all from my holiday festivities and they involve some brand new items I bought a while ago.....and of course are just now making their debut to the world. SMH

My aunt hosted a crab boil over her house just to give us a "break" from the Christmas food. If you're not familiar with a crab boil, its just a seafood dinner with the main course featuring boiled crabs. However, you can cook them however you want and add shrimp, fillets, etc. I don't know about you all but we throw in corn-on-the-cob, eggs, potatoes, etc. while our crabs are boiling.....its soooooo good.

Per usual, I overdressed for the occasion but I don't care because when it was time to feed my face, I hurriedly took off my hat, scarf and placed one of my aunt's aprons over my clothes. My battery on my camera died shortly after I arrived and for some reason I keep forgetting my phone has an excellent camera on it. This is the reason I don't have any pics of the food....or my temporary apron ;-)

I bought these boots almost a year ago. It was warming up in my town so I didn't get a chance to wear them. These boots make me feel as if I'm on stilts. That stiletto heel and the hidden platform are a beast! LOL!

Loving the cap toe look. This goes back several centuries but for the life of me, I can't remember the time period. I do know that this shoe style was worn with the petticoat. My niece asked me why I didn't tie them up and I said "Auntie was running late pumpkin", lol.

I am also proud to wear my new wide brim hat as well. Loving the color and subtle feather adornment.

Happy Monday! I'm actually well rested from the weekend so this morning I started off with a killer workout, refreshing shower, full breakfast, and I think I'm going to actually get to work a full 30 minutes before I usually do.....WHAT ON EARTH HAS GOTTEN INTO ME???? LOL! But seriously, this is so unusual. However, I'm not complaining at all. I need to start my mornings off like this more often!

So listen peeps......I just realized I have too many shoes. Okay, back track, you can truly NEVER have too many, but I mean I need to slow down until I catch up on actually wearing the new shoes I've purchased. I went through my closet yesterday to find a spot for my new pair (a post on those babies will be forthcoming) and I counted the pairs of unworn heels and there were at least 9 pairs that I could see clearly (don't know what's hidden, it could raise the number even higher). That's just....bad. Anyhew, since this month I'm on my spending hiatus, I'll focus on shopping my "shoe store" and wearing them to work (maybe not), church (some of them), and various outings. I've worn the pair I have on below several times and they feel brand new every time I step out in them. This time they actually gave me the "lift" I needed to visit Sprint....I know, I know, I really should just sign with another company but for now I'm under contract and to be honest I'm developing this sick need to joust with them every other day. SMH

Happy Friday!!! Hip Hip Hooray! It's been a rough week at work! I swear, you take a couple days off and BOOM...they find everything they can to throw at ya. Sometimes I feel as if the system is designed so that you work hard, burn out, recharge (vacation), and repeat the cycle over and over again!!!! Ok, that's enough. I can not linger in frustration because God continues to show me favor. Let me count the ways; I have a fab career, an awesome and supportive family, dynamite friends, good health, a home, transpo, opportunity, etc. I'm sorry, I can't list any more cuz I don't want to invite haters into my space. Let's just say I'm completely humbled at the love that I receive from God :-)

I told you guys a while back that during the Christmas holiday, I was going to attend a scholarship gala. I wanted to wear something new, but I thought about it and realized that I have some really great dresses that I could just rework and rock them like they were brand new. WARNING.....this is a picture heavy post, do enjoy!

I pulled out my BCBG MaxAzria dress I wore on my bday last year. I payed well for it so I might as well get some use out of it. This time, I decided to belt it and pair it with my leopard print Lorissas. I chose an oversized clutch because a little dainty one was too close to the norm.

Ohhh the ruffles bring so much drama in my life, LOL. I should have worn some makeup but oh well. Next time for sure!

Soooo, I went and bought a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Now, this purchase happened in December so don't think I've abandoned my church's "no spending fast" for the month of January. I'm seriously committed to that. I even planned out my next 3 meals so that I can avoid any fast food restaurants. We're only allowed to spend money on groceries that we need (i.e. no superfluous snack items), bills, gas, and emergencies (i.e. flat tire, medical bill). I think I can do that for 31 days. It's day 4 and I'm on point!!!

Oh yea, back to my Giuseppe heels. Well, I've been stalking these lovers for a hot minute but I refused to pay an arm and 2 legs, and my first born for them. It's funny, I'll spend that on a handbag, but not a pair of designer heels, LOL. Priorities, priorities, smh. So as soon as these shoes went on "crazy" sale I scooped them up. Yaaaayyyy me!!!!

I never use these things....do you all?

I know, I know, I know....these babies were worn by every so called celebrity fashionista AND their mommas!!! But I cannot help it! I kept thinking about these heels and I just knew I was going to have them.

I honestly thought my first pair of Giuseppes would be a little more glitzy and uber glamourous! But alas, I love the simple, yet edgy design of these heels. Furthermore, the leather is so rich and feels divine!

Hmmm....although they feel great against my skin, I get the feeling that these babies are not going to last more than 1 hour (if that) as I'm walking on them. What a shame....OH WELL!!! LOL!

Still posting pics from my holiday weekends. I look back at some of my photos and I must say I'm quite disappointed. I meant to overdress and for the most part I was pretty laid back and casual. How irritating! Anyhew, I'll make up for that with some random dressed up outings to the book store or a trip to Sprint....cause we all know I'll have to visit their behind soon enough.

On Christmas day I was seriously casual. It's absolutely amazing how a pair of shoes can totally transform your outfit. Initially, I was going to wear a pair of leopard print booties, but I just kept on the high tops I had on after church. I know that jewelry can elevate any outfit, but the shoes really determine the dressy or causal look....period.

BTW....I love old school high-tops. Whether they're Vans, Pro Keds, Chuck Taylors, etc., they're all I own.

Christmas weekend I went to a parade with my family as we celebrated a scholarship program that I was a proud recipient of. So of course I always have to give back financially and with my time. Happy Friday! We're rolling full speed ahead into a new year and I, for one, am so excited!!! I have old endeavors to complete, but new adventures to begin. But first, I have to set my short term goals so that I can stay focused on what's priority in my life. I'm an Aries and we tend to take on more than we should because we're so dang ambitious....and utterly insane! I'll have to keep you all informed about how that's working out throughout the year ;-)

Last Friday, my bestie and I visited a lounge that was tucked off in the middle of the downtown area. I swear I never noticed this spot before but it was pretty darn spacious. There was an event taking place that featured new and upcoming musical artists able to perform their work before a really receptive audience. In addition, local artists and entrepreneurs were allowed to bring in their wares to sell and market. At first, I was like, OMG....this crowd looks hella young and had more of a "skateboarders" vibe. However, as we began to wander around, we realized that the crowd was more versatile than we originally observed. Much better.

This guy is a supa fab lyricist!!! I see big things for him if he's picked up by a label. The boy is HOT!

We were so shocked when a band filled with "nerds and awkward misfits" stepped on stage......wth? However, I was pleasantly surprised when they dropped that first beat. I was sprung. All instrumentals used in their performance was live and I have MAD respect for that.

His hair was the star of the show....

I wore my fav "go to" outfit for the event. Found this lovely cotton blazer on sale and I jumped at this purchase. I swear I have rarely seen some of the sales clothes on the full price rack......I think they probably take inventory directly from manufactures that do not "meet inspection" but I'm not clear.......anyone else believes this?

I brought out my "neutral" heels and throwback gold chain to rock the look.

My bestie was super fly and I loved her top so much that, besides threatening to steal it from her, I actually purchased several the very next day. I can't believe that heffa was holding out on me....LOL!

Looks like I'm also going to take her fishnet gloves and pink blush shoes, lol. Her gloves are from Asos.com. When Asos developed a site of operations in the US....the poor company had no idea what they were getting into. I know I contributed heavily to their bottom line ;-)

We had sooooo much fun and I'm glad I didn't back out due to, initially, fatigue. This party allowed me to network with a ton of people. The host did a fabulous job as well.

Thanks so much for your lovely support via Twitter and the comments section regarding my phone. One guy reminded me that it could have been worse and dude could have had a gun and robbed me of everything I had. SO TRUE!!! I thanked God that I wasn't hurt, but I didn't communicate the "silver lining" during my vent session. My bad! It's never a good look to only highlight the bad and neglect the good. Sprint actually contacted me yesterday and they promised me that they will address the rude manager I spoke to (the rep said they had a voice recording), and they were able to expedite the delivery of my new phone. Way to make up for the sub par customer service!!!

You know what's interesting.....fifteen years ago I wouldn't even miss a phone, but now.....our society has catered to the exponential growth of technology and our high dependence on gadgets. I literally manage my life with one device. But trust....I'm going to remedy that starting now. I refuse to be left lost and looking forlorn over a 0.7 lb phone. SMH

After my first "Christmas shopping" outing of the season, I realized that getting all jazzy to hit up the malls and outlets was not going to work. Those vultures were pushy, rude, and the scene was just too overcrowded. I then decided to look relaxed, ready for war, and a little stylish ;-)

Afterwards, I went to grab a bite to eat and while I was at the counter, some demon-possessed soul STOLE my phone! Can you believe that ish??? How bold as hell! What happened to the spirit of Christmas? I'm so upset because I just paid to get a replacement and now I was, again, without a phone. And not to mention the injustice. Who steals phones nowadays anyways??? They give them to you for FREE when you sign up!!! That bama is not going to get much on the market for it....I know cause I checked. But I'm still pissed because my old memory chip was in there and I had new pictures I hadn't downloaded yet. UGGHHH!!!!

To make matters worse, I run up to Sprint because I still had the old phone with me in hopes that they could reactivate it, and I guess I got there too close to closing time and those bamas not only were rushing me, but they didn't reactivate my phone correctly! I couldn't make any calls once I left. I had to call in to Sprint 6 times and that just took the cake. I have got to move my service to another company. Even one of the managers was rude! Why can't people understand the value of customer service anymore? He actually said "well what do you expect me to do?". If I could reach through that phone I'd be in some one's jail cell right now. SMH Anyhew, the sixth and final phone call connected me to someone who actually knew what they were doing and went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. The entire process took 2 1/2 hours of unnecessary wasted time. Sprint sucks! And their ridiculous insurance company will not send out a phone until I verify my identity by faxing them a copy of my driver's license along with an affidavit form. Ummm.....ya'll have already sent me out several phones before and this time you need proof of ID??? Asurian can eat grass too! So that means I will not receive my new phone for at least 4 more days. In the words of Stewie Griffith..."What the Deuce?". #EPICFAIL

Merry Christmas....well, that's for yesterday of course ;-) There were no chestnuts roasting by the open fire at my home, LOL. It was super hot!!! I can't believe we didn't get a cool breeze or nothing. SMH We got up and went to church, then we opened gifts, visited family, and brought on back home late that night. Spending time with the family is the BEST! However, I still don't feel rested from my mini "vacay". We were just always on the go so I didn't get a chance to lounge around on my mom's very comfy sofa. Oh well, I'll try to sit my behind down this upcoming weekend. So, I told my friends that I think I need an intervention because I've been buying every shoe in sight. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!!! I usually have waaaayyy more self-restraint. I have these crazy moments every now and again but I'm trying my best to seek out a cure. But I don't think my search is yielding results, lol.

Oh well....my friends were not helpful either. Those jokers were telling me they had the same problem and two of them actually suggested I purchase the item for them OR just give them the money....O_O I can't stand them, LOL! I must reevaluate my friendships. I am certainly a fan of Mr. Christian Louboutin, however, not all of his shoes win me over. When the 'Daffodil' pump first came on the scene I was like oh no, these things are ridiculous and remind me of Daffy Duck's girlfriend, Daisy (you can Google her, LOL)! I'm all for extreme, fashion forward designs but they did nothing for me at the time. However, he's back with a new design that I think I love.

I guess all he needed to do was add fabric to this tapered toe pump in a geometric embroidered design and he got me!!! But seriously, the addition of the fabric tones down the gigantic platform and allows me to see a 'normal' pump.

It even appears to be a classic design from the front. The other plain color styles were quite severe.

I will admit that it's still a very imposing silhouette and now, with this bold design, it's down right powerful! But me likey anyways! I'm sure we'll start to see this style on every other celebrity diva because I swear their fashion sense cred is limited to the "trendy" designers of the moment.

This new style of the infamous 'Daffodil' pump makes it a fab heel in my opinion, and for only $1,095.00, you can scoop up this beauty at Barneys.com . Mmmm.....pricey!!!! So what do you all think of this monster pump?

I bought a blue lace dress and merlot heels, similar to the ones i send you in Attachments. I was planning on wearing them and the dress combined with gold jewerly and gold clutch, also wearing nail polish and lipstick in the colour of the heels. The ring i have is gold with a merlot stone on it and i also have a gold link bracelet. Do you think i need some more jewelry e.g. some necklace? What do you think of my combo? I love the color combination you chose. This will be a fabulous look for New Year's Eve. The merlot color is on trend and besides, berry colors look awesome for any winter soiree! Now on to the accessories, I think what you have so far sounds great. However, I believe if you're getting dressed up for a holiday party, you should definitely add a little more bling. I would suggest you add a statement necklace with a little sparkle to be on trend with the festive season.....OR you can add some sparkly earrings to increase the "wow" factor of your outfit. Weekend Recap: Party Time

Greetings Fashion Pad Readers,

How was your weekend? I hope you all a fab one! I actually worked for the majority of mine, but I still was able to get out and party with friends. For my girl's b-day, me and the homie D hit up a huge club downtown to join her and her peeps for a little celebration........but we barely made it. Foremost, it took forever for me to shake off the "old woman" syndrome and drag myself up to start getting ready. It's crazy, but I started getting ready a mere 30 minutes before I left to scoop up my friend. SMH. Then, when we got downtown, we had no idea where the heck the club was and folks were too drunk....or just plain scary looking to ask/answer our questions. After using up the majority of our "heel time" (you know, the time it takes for your feet to hurt), we finally found it.

But let me reveal something to you all.....I had a serious "ah hah" moment. To clarify, I realized that I'm a grown behind woman and I can't do the club thing anymore. This was confirmed by several events in the club. 1.) When we walked in, the smoke from ciggys, blunts, etc nearly created a "high" in me. 2.) Almost everyone looked like they could be my student. 3.) My ears began ringing after being in the club for only about 10 minutes. 4.) I was traumatized by the scantily clad women grinding super hard on dudes....and each other. 5.) I didn't recognize over half the music being played. It's inevitable that we all will reach this point in our life, and trust me when I say I'm so not mad I'm here.....as a matter of fact, I'm relieved!

Now, with that relevation shared........on to the fashion. I pulled out this lovely leopard dress that I haven't shown much love to at all.

I was trying to go with an understated sexy look....remember it only took me 30 minutes to get ready, I couldn't do more, lol.

I have such a polygamist love for my shoes......I'm deeply attracted to all of them ;-)

A Meeting with Friends

Happy Friday!!!! I've been checking off items on my list both personally AND professionally. Too excited!!! Now, it's time for me to put on my army fatigues and enter the battlefield.....you know what I'm talking about, the malls and outlets!!!! Yesterday, I stopped for a quick pick up (I literally went into one section of a department store) and I was nearly knocked over by some ladies rushing towards the clearance rack. No "excuse me" or "I'm sorry"......nothing! I didn't say anything because I'm not easily provoked, but I did shoot them a mean side eye. It should never be that serious, unless you're a participant on a game show or maybe a reality show. SMH...... I had better see these same folks knocking me over to get into a church, volunteer at a shelter....or something!

Anyhew, on to the fashion. My friends and I had another get together and this time we hit up a fab hotel restaurant where we used their open garden and waterfall as the back drop for a photo op!

I bought this burnt orange blazer about a month ago.....I'm just now popping the tags off for a test drive. BTW, I label all of my purchases that I wear for the first time as a "test drive". No real reason......just being extra :-) I know this ensemble would have looked a whole lot better with a pair of pumps.....but I wanted to step outside the box a little. My comfort zone is getting too....comfy.

This jacket had a really awkward fit. I think it wasn't constructed well through the side seams. I could button it up so I know that it was the correct size.....just the wrong fit :-( Normally I don't have a problem with blazers so I usually don't try them on. I guess I will have to start that back up again.

I'm calling out Eric for this sub par pic of my booties. They have a lovely sage green color and fab details. Too much lighting here to see......

The place we visited was a sushi lounge. It was gorgeous and no....I didn't take pics because I was too busy running my mouth. You would think I would have the hang of this thing by now *insert shoulder shrug here*

I told you guys that Dawana was a style and hair chameleon, lol. My homie is F-L-Y!!!

Have you ever purchased something then thought "Why and the heck did I buy this?"? It's a rare occurrence for me now that I'm a more "seasoned" shopper. But these questionable moments do occur and they actually stir up fond memories from my childhood. Do you remember when you were younger and the girls who liked every dude they were remotely attracted to were referred to as "boy crazy".....well I think that's the feeling I get when I make these impulse buys. Oh well, sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. My recent "fashion crazy" garment is this pair of denim pants below.

Okay, what the heck are these??? I think they are a mix between the paper bag and harem style. It's so weird that I would buy these because I take great precaution in securing clothing that flatters my curves....not hides them.

But guess what.....I bought these suckers so they're gonna get worn, whether they're in style or not! That's what I get for falling for the fad (trends last several seasons.....fads, not so much).

Another thing that irks me.....besides the waist tie that comes undone easily.....is the fact their high-waist style really shortens my torso to like 5 inches long!!! There is absolutely NO illusion of height with these bad boys....SMH.

Hot or Not: Denim on Denim

Happy Hump Day!!! We're trudging along through this week, hopefully making the best of our blessings and placing our own unique stamp on the world. Hmmm....I'm falling a little short of that latter mark. I've been a wee bit unfocused the first few days of the week but its not too late to buckle down and get some things accomplished. My list is long but I'm determined to check every single line item off by Friday! I don't know about you, but when I write stuff down, I get things done because I hate to see it not crossed off my list. #motivation

But before I get to work, let's get the day started with fashion! I spotted a picture of the lovely Rihanna via NicoleBitchie.com and her outfit warranted a fashion question from me to you all........would you wear denim on denim?

Rihanna is rocking a pair of destroyed denim in a rugged wash paired with a denim button down top. The leather jacket and patent leather booties adds rock star edge and I'm absolutely loving her two-tone curls here.

Denim on denim can be a tough look to pull off. However, I think when you pair two denim garments of different hues, it works fabulously. In other words, a black pair of jeans paired with a blue denim top looks striking. This also works with different shades of the same color. See below for an example.

Outfit: A Professional Leopard

How's your week going so far? I'm trying hard to keep my focus on what God has for me and it is giving me sooo much insight, discipline, and humility. What a blessing. I struggle with spiritual discernment, not because I don't have it, but because I don't use it like I should. Thank goodness I have favor, grace, and mercy. The trials we face on a daily basis can really get you down if you don't continue to seek the face of God. I allowed the actions of another to affect me recently. Never again. I can only be responsible for me and I refuse to throw any more pity parties because there are people out there who don't know how to be honest. SMH.

On Sunday, I fed my soul with the word and I stepped out with a new dress I bought specifically with church and work in mind.

WHOA! This wide-legged stance makes me look.......wide. Note to self: Don't EVER stand/pose like this again in a printed sheath dress. SMH!

I went with the "young professional" style for this outfit. The only non-conservative element was my spiked heels.

Oh yea....that gargantuan ring and those statement earrings are beyond conservative. But they add pizazz!!!! Those are my favorite silver earrings and I'm sorry you guys have to be subjected to them frequently on this blog....but I refuse to give them up. It's the only pair I've bought from Forever 21 that has lasted this long.....going on 4 years!!!

Greetings Fashion Pad Readers,

Welcome back from the weekend! I hope you guys had a fun and/or relaxing few days. I'm still a little tired but there's nothing I can do about it. Unfortunately you can't catch up on sleep :-( I'll try to take a nap or something when I get home from work......oh wait, I forgot, I need to go grocery shopping or I won't be eating (trying to abstain from takeout). I have a few Christmas parties coming up and ya girl needs to look right in these dresses. I mean, who complains about their weight then goes and purchases a fitted AND cutout dress??? I swear I'm so ridiculous. But, I do have the option to workout with some pole dancing classes. They produce rather swift results so maybe they'll provide a little short term help. We'll see.

Yesterday, after church, I went home to my mother's house to visit. My family stays a little over an hour away which, for a momma's girl, is heaven. But for my independent side, they live far enough that they have to call before they come ;-) It works out well. I received my new boots I purchased from Steve Madden last week and I decided to wear them out for a test drive. We went shopping so I thought I could really get a feel for their utility.

My new boots remind me that I'm a little bowlegged. I tried for years to correct that. You know how evil kids can be. LOL! I love roomy tops. Fashion experts say that they make you appear larger but I don't care.

I love these jeans. No matter if I gain 5lbs or lose 5lbs they fit just right. It's marvelous!

Please excuse the hair.....it was very windy!

I love lace-up boots. These are the perfect height and they have a little rugged feel to them. Very versatile styling options for these babies.

These boots are cute and practical, however, my left foot was uncomfortable after wearing the boots for about 2 1/2 hrs. It wasn't pain....just discomfort. But either way, I didn't like that. We'll see if this was just the "breaking in" period.

The dang wind was stubborn. It would not let up. This photo shoot took less than 2 minutes because we couldn't see with the wind blowing our hair in our faces. I don't know how my niece got any pics. On second thought, that little woman probably just aimed and clicked. LOL!

Greetings Fashionistas,

It's Friiiiiidddday!!!!!! What a good, productive, and challenging week it has been for me. LOVE IT! I checked my schedule and realized I have to work the next two Saturdays so it looks like I'll have to do the rest of my shopping online....or at night (clearly this was an oversight). Sundays are usually reserved for church and relaxation days. Well, unless I need to go shopping, LOL! Lemme stop. I keep telling myself that I'm almost done, but truth be told, I still have a lot to get! Every year I say I'm cutting back on my gifting, and low and behold, I end up doing the same amount of spending!!! And what's even more sad is the fact that I can't just shop for others....ohhhhh no, no, no. I buy one thing for my sister, and buy 3 things for myself. I literally have to go pick up the items I planned to get first, then allow my selfish, jealous, spoiled, inner fashionista to have her fun. If not, this heffa will be fidgety all day long. I need therapy!

Anyways, I went shopping with my mother and auntie and I wanted to wear a sweatshirt, but then I thought how can I make this super casual top look stylish. You all know I was going to be around a lot of people...I had to be chic! I subscribe to the old saying that "you never know who you're going to meet" which is why I try to look put together whenever I leave my house. Well, with that being stated, here is what I came up with below.

I decided to pair the sweater with shorts. I love breaking that fashion rule. I also couldn't wait to wear this fringed scarf again that I discovered at the bottom of my belt trunk....now how did it get there?

It helps that this sweater just so happens to have more of a fitted look. I added my favorite fedora (I have a big head and this fits just right). The ankle boots show there face to toughen up this style.

My earrings are a little "lost" in the pattern of the scarf. Oh well, they had polka dot designs on them which is my absolute FAVORITE pattern/print.

I am so uber excited to introduce you all to my new wardrobe addition. Yes, you heard me, I have 99 problems but my style ain't one...hit me!

Say hello to my little friend *in my best Colombian gangsta voice*. I couldn't wait to share this heel with my fellow fashionistas because I knew you guys would understand my joy. After stalking this shoe for about a month I finally got it on Black Friday at an excellent discount. Yaaaayyyyyy!!!!

These suckers are just......gorge! IMO! They are fashion forward, with some trendy elements, and while the suede material was initially a concern....JC did a fabulous job and it looks more modern as opposed to 1970s.

So of course I took these babies for a mini test drive this weekend. And it's so sad but I have to share with you all that the only place I rocked them was the grocery store. LMBO! But I had to try them out ;-)

These suckers make my legs appear EXTRA long......SWEET!!!!!!!!

Haaa! I know it looks like I'm trying to pick up my leg, but I was just trying to show you all another angle, lol.

I was soooo enthralled with these wedges I totally neglected my hair. Looked like I'd been wrestling an alligator, YIKES!

I hadn't worn this skirt either. You know ya girl felt extra brand new, lol!

All in all these shoes are fantabulous (yes, I made that ish up)! They are super comfortable and I tried to lean back and the weight of the platform didn't allow for any "tipping" over. I was very pleased as I am extremely clumsy so I don't need to add any additional accidents to my repertoire if I can help it. These heels are my new favorites!!!!

Greetings Fashion Mavens,

I had dinner with my business partners a few weeks ago and I decided to wear the leopard print pants I told you guys about here that I scooped up from Urban Outfitters for a mere $9.99!!!

Honestly, they don't fit like a skinny pair of jeans should fit. I have too much room in the crotch area and although I went up a size, it should not sag this much because I have ample hips and butt to spare!

Do you see what I mean??? They are sooooo baggy through the leg....so wonder they were on the super clearance rack, lol. I would have changed my outfit but I was running way behind schedule.

The fit of the jeans just sucks so I'm going to attempt to alter them because I really love the color. Oh yea, I forgot to take the tag off my back right pocket, lol. No one noticed ;-)

My friends and I met up at a local sushi restaurant for our meeting.

And of course there's Eric.....who decided to sit like a Japanese Geisha throughout dinner, LOL. He chose the sitting area with no seats. I hadn't sat in "Indian style" for years. Your girl was too through after about an hour. SMH.

After we shut the restaurant down.....literally.....we went outside and had a mini photo shoot.

Eric rocked out in what I termed "granny chic". The earth tones look great on him per usual.

Welcome back from the weekend!!! I know this seems odd to state...but I'm so absolutely happy to be back at work this week. Man I have been spending money like there's no tomorrow. Normally, I shop a little more during the holiday season just by virtue of the spirit of giving. However, I have been giving a little too much......to my closet. SMH. I think I have purchased 5 pairs of shoes within the past week and a half. No lie!!! Not to mention I've also picked up a couple of garments AND went shopping for items on my Christmas list. Let's just say I'm going to sit my behind down this week and focus on other stuff....like work and my business.

On the bright side, my bills are paid and my savings haven't been touched so thank you Lord! I just know that I will be shopping my closet for upcoming holiday parties and galas. Now on to this post. I realize that as I was editing pics I had not shared what I wore on Thanksgiving day. I have no idea how I overlooked these photos, but here they go.

Okay, so contrary to the title of this post, this skirt isn't actually a tutu....but it does remind you of one right?

This necklace is so cool with the ribbon tie and large baubles. As you can see, I chose this skirt for turkey day because it has an elastic waist ;-)

My niece, who was taking these pics, told me my poses are boring and that I need to get more "lively", LMBO! That's my baby....13 going on 30!

TGIF!!!! This has actually been a really good work week. I got a lot of things accomplished but I didn't even feel stressed. Now THAT works well for me. Gotta do it more often, lol. I abhor going into the weekend feeling fatigued.....it's hard to enjoy yourself when you're falling asleep before 9pm, lol. #workingprofessionalproblems

Below are some pics from the Florida Classic where my Alma Mater, Florida A&M University (FAMU Rattlers), played our rivals, Bethune-Cookman University (BCU Wildcats). We lost, but I had a fab time kicking it with family and friends! I also hit up some street vendors...per usual....and scooped up me some new, unique and uber fab accessories. In addition, I sampled a variety of foods both outside and inside the stadium (I'm such a greedy heffa). But, I think what's most important to this particular platform is that I managed to look fly, laidback, stylish, and comfortable at an HBCU football game. SCORE!

Forget the outfit I'm loving my hair in this photo, LOL!

This has got to be one of the best, well made blouses I've purchased from Forever 21.....no lie. It's my new favorite!

I need another pair of oxfords. These shoes are just so darn versatile. The next ones I purchase need to be black, or contain some kind of pattern.

The stadium was on that sardine tip....AWESOME!!!! It was a beautiful sight. A huge portion of the ticket sales go to scholarship programs and other things for both universities.

The tuba section of the world-renown Marching 100. Please remember to pray for the family of the drum major who died shortly following this game. Unfortunately hazing is suspected to be the cause of death :-(

Okay Ann. I got you! I love styling and it really gets exciting to create an entirely different look using a specific color combo. This request takes me back. When I used to dance, some of our competition costumes included dresses, shorts, spandex pants, and pom-pom skirts. The goal was to be able to maximize movement, without having to deal with restrictive clothing. However, to keep it modern, and from looking like you're about to enter a dance competition, we're just going to stick with the grown, sexy, and stylish looks below ;-)

I know this dress looks restricting, however, its the material that allows it to be a good candidate for your party attire. It has about 2% lycra that allows for great stretch and thus, awesome movement. The LBD is a must wear.....and the addition of a thin red belt will put you right on theme!

Okay, I have bought at least 5 pairs of shoes in the past month! I guess this is my shoe season for real. Now I'm thinking about purchasing the pair below. I think I go through phases where I buy an abnormal number of a certain item for several months then I switch to something else. It's a vicious cycle, lol. This post is going to be brief because I need to get my day started relatively quick. Early mornings really drain me.....I fight real hard to remain in REM sleep so by the time I get up I'm tired, lol.
